What is BCCLS?
BCCLS, the Bergen County Cooperative Library System, is a consortium of over 77 public libraries in northern New Jersey.
Is it easy to get a library card?
It's easy and free! With proper identification, your home library will provide you with a free library card. If your town is not a BCCLS member or does not have a library, check with any BCCLS library for local pay card policies.
How do I borrow materials?
Once you have your library card, you can visit and borrow from more than 75 BBCLS libraries.
You may search www.bccls.org 24/7 and with your library card request any of the more than 5,500,000 items available within the BCCLS system.
Your items will be delivered within a matter of days to any BCCLS library by our state sponsored delivery system and you may return your materials to any BCCLS library.
What can I borrow from the library?
You can borrow books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, video games, software, and more. Downloadable audiobooks, eBooks, magazines, movies, and music are available online.
What if something I want isn't currently available?
You can request materials from the BCCLS catalog online or ask your librarian to place a request for you. You'll be notified when the material becomes available.
What if the material I want isn't available in a BCCLS library?
Your home library will try to obtain the material you've requested from outside the BCCLS system.
How do I renew materials?
The easiest way to renew materials is online using "My Account". You can also renew in person or by telephone.
How do I get an online account?
With your online account you can view your borrower information, review what you currently have checked out, renew materials that are renewable, and check for fines. To set up your online account, visit any BCCLS library to create a password. You can change your password at any time through "My Account".
Does BCCLS have a mobile app?
You can connect to the BCCLS catalog on your mobile device, search for materials, request items, and even send yourself call numbers via text message to your cell phone.
How can I find what events are happening at my library?
Through BCCLS' calendar software, you can see the events scheduled at many BCCLS libraries. Some require registration, some are for residents only, but many are open to all.
Are there any materials in languages other than English in the BCCLS catalog?
You can find books, movies, and magazines in a selection of languages searchable in native vernacular.
Does BCCLS offer online research tools?
BCCLS offers multiple sources for online research including "Web Subject Guides" - a collection of websites covering many topics including Medicine and Health, Sports, and Employment and Careers.
Additionaly, premium content is available at no charge to BCCLS library cardholders through databases funded by BCCLS and the New Jersey State Library.
You can access and reprint entire articles from thousands of magazines and newspapers. Search at the library, at home, or anywhere you are connected.
It's as easy as searching the library catalog or visiting "Digital Collections" on the BCCLS website.
