Ridgefield Public Library
The library is happy to provide FREE notary service to all members of the public. Some restrictions apply. Please phone the library at 201-941-0192 x 110 to make an appointment. Walk-ins may not be able to be accommodated.
The person whose signature is being notarized must present a valid photo ID, specifically a current driver’s license or a passport. Any required witnesses must accompany the person whose document is to be notarized and must also present proper identification. Neither the library’s notary nor any other library employee may serve as a witness.
Notary can provide services in English only and for documents printed only in English.
- Notary service is not available for mortgages, deeds, wills, living wills, living trusts or codicils, Form 1-9’s, or Depositions, as these types of documents can require technical or legal knowledge and beyond the scope of this free service.
- Notary cannot provide legal advice or counseling regarding documents.
- Certain public documents cannot be copied and notarized. Examples of these are birth certificate, death certificate and marriage certificates.
In accordance with New Jersey Notarial Law, Notaries will not provide service if the customer, document, or circumstances of the request for Notary service raises the issue of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt, or uncertainty for the library. In this event, the Library Notary may decline to provide Notary Service.
